Averell's Raiders is a war movie, but imbedded with some anti-war sentiments. We attempted to concentrate on human stories, as the Confederate wedding so rudely disturbed by Averell's forces. We also look at the plight of the slaves as they grasp for freedom and take every opportunity to secure it.
Unfortunately, human nature seems to crave decisive action and daring adventure. But war comes, and confusion, pain, hunger, and destruction become the dominant realities. We attempt to focus on the suffering of the soldiers and the citizenry rather than the "road to glory."
